Jailbreak iphone firmware 3.1.2

If you want to jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2 or iPod Touch 3.1.2 firmware, you can use the blackra1n software to do it. blackra1n is available for both Windows and Mac. This post has the download links for blackra1n and also gives you a tutorial on how to use it.

Geohot recently released his new jailbreaking software called blackra1n. blackra1n allows you to jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2 or iPod touch with just a click of a button. Follow the guide below to learn how to use blackra1n and jailbreak your device.

blackra1n Tutorial

1. Connect your iPhone or iPod touch to your computer and open the blackra1n application.

2. Click the make it ra1n button.

3. blackra1n will now put your iPhone or iPod Touch in to recovery mode and display the above image of Geohot. While in recovery mode, blackra1n will jailbreak your device.

4. Once blackra1n is done jailbreaking, your iPhone or iPod Touch will reboot and you should see the blackra1n icon on your iPhone or iPod touch screen.

5. Tap the blackra1n icon to open it. You have the option of installing either Cydia, snow, or Rock. Select the applications you would like to install and then click the Install button to install them.

6. Once you’ve installed the applications, restart your iPhone or iPod touch. To do that, just hold down the top button until the Slide to power off message appears. Slide the button, and wait for your device to turn off. Turn on your device and you should now see the applications you selected on your iPhone or iPod Touch.

blacksn0w is a software unlock developed by Geohot for both iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS users. It works with the latest baseband 05.11.07 and is scheduled to be released on November 4.

How to restore or update your iPod/iPhone:




After downloading the desired firmware below, you can shift-click (PC) or option-click (Mac) the Restore or Update buttons in iTunes. A file dialog will open and let you choose the downloaded ipsw-file.



Note: Your browser may change the ipsw-file into a zip-file. In that case, just rename it to end in .ipsw and iTunes will accept it.

It appears some users are having wifi issues. Try a "Reset Network Settings". If someone can come up with a way to replicate wifi issues, I will investigate further as I have not yet seen these issues firsthand. Also, this just enables custom MobileConfig files. To fully enable tethering, go here on your iPhone and download a MobileConfig file for your carrier. Watch out for carrier fees for tethering.
Push and YouTube issues are caused by hacktivation. The dev team has a fix for YouTube which they are posting on Cydia shortly.
