You must save your SHSH (secure signature hash) Blobs on iOS 4.1 now if you want an untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak. Users with the following iOS devices are required to save their SHSH Blobs in order to guarantee them an untethered jailbreak: iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS (new bootrom), iPad, iPad 3G, iPod touch 4G, iPod touch 3G, iPod touch 2G (MC models), iPod touch 1G.
In the event that iOS 4.2.1 cannot be untethered, saving the SHSH Blobs will allow iOS users to downgrade back to iOS 4.1 and use an untethered jailbreak on the older firmware.
If you are already jailbroken, Cydia automatically saves the SHSH blobs on it’s own server, but why take chances? It’s better to save the SHSH Blob on to your own desktop AND Cydia. There’s a tool to help you do that, and it’s called TinyUmbrella by notcom (aka semaphore). Instructions on how to use TinyUmbrella on your hardware are below.
How to Use TinyUmbrella to Save iOS 4.1 SHSH Blobs
2. Connect your iOS Device to your computer.
3. If iTunes is open, then close it!
4. Open TinyUmbrella.

5. Under “Connected Devices”, your device should show up. Click on your device.
6. Click Save SSH. Now TinyUmbrella will save your SHSH.

7. Once your SHSH is saved, it will show up in the Saved SHSHs box.
The iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak has not been released yet. If you want to jailbreak iOS 4.2, then follow @QuickPWN on Twitter, Follow us on Facebook, and Subscribe to our YouTube for future updates.
